Programm Tagung ARCHIVE / PRACTICE, 10. bis 13. Dezember 2009

ARCHIVE/PRACTICE
International Symposium in Leipzig and Hellerau

10-13 December 2009

The Symposium ARCHIVE / PRACTICE focuses on the dialogue between archival work and artistic practice. The basic idea for this meeting of experts (archivists, artists and scholars) is to discuss some current developments, to present case studies, to reflect theoretical grounds
as well as technical, aesthetical and political aspects of the archive. The task of archiving dance and performance changes in the age of digitization and open access. Artistic strategies of reconstruction,re-enactment and (self-)archiving have an increasing influence, also in challenging the archives and their way to organize and reflect memory and history.

The Symposium is organized by the Dance Archive Leipzig in cooperation with the Institute for Theatre Studies (University of Leipzig), the LOFFT Theatre, the Festspielhaus Hellerau (Dresden) and the association of German Dance Archives (VDT / Tanzplan Deutschland).
